Online Connecticut Urban Atlas
Welcome to the Online Connecticut Urban Atlas!

This site is an expansion of the concepts behind the U.S. Bureau of the Census' Urban Atlas Project developed in the 1970s.  The Online Connecticut Urban Atlas enables one to construct choropleth maps of any metropolitan area in the State of Connecticut from U.S. Census characteristics of those areas according to your specifications.  To prepare a map, you must...

  1. Select a study area (for example, any or all metropolitan areas).
  2. Select the geographical units of interest within the study area (for example, towns within a single metropolitan area).
  3. Select the U.S. Census database that contains the information for the geographical unit of interest within the study area (for example, 2000 U.S. Census of Population (SF1)).
  4. Select the data fields of interest from the database (for example, P5 Households).
  5. Select a classification scheme and layout.

After you have made your selections, you will see a map of your choice.  Make changes to your selections, if necessary.  Then submit your request.
